First Annual Block Party

September 27, 2009

We had our first block party this weekend. Of course it rained, and it rained earlier than they forecasted. We still hung out as long as we could. The face painter was a no show. I got a very apologetic voice mail message last night. They don’t know what happened to her.

On the bright side, the pony rides were a hit and so was the visit from the Pine Hill fire company. Everyone brought their own food and other dishes to share. There was a ton of food.

The music was an acoustic duo called Blind Drunk. They were great. We’ll definitely hire them again for whatever comes next.

Kite Flying

September 23, 2009

This should actually be part of the “Brigantine” collection, but I wanted to single it out. John went to Rite Aid and found 2 kites left. Since it’s September, I guess they’re sort of sold out. We took the kids out early Sunday morning to fly them. Declan liked it for about 20 seconds (or less), but Jordan thought it was fun. Unfortunately, the kites kept flying right in front of the sun which made it nearly impossible to see them if you’re flying them. Jordan’s was so high that she asked us to take it down so it didn’t “go into outer space and get melted by the sun” – so we did.

Brigantine in September

September 20, 2009

The beach in September is the best. It’s still warm, but it’s empty. My mom has a house for the week so of course, we crashed for the weekend. Friday night we went to the Rainforest Cafe. Perfect for the kids.

Saturday morning we came home to go to soccer (or social hour), then went back down.

We visited the beach, found a ton of seashells, played with a random dog, ordered a pizza, then out to Steel Pier for rides.

Soccer 2009

September 19, 2009

I don’t know why I signed either of them up for soccer. Declan could care less and Jordan just uses the time to make new best friends. I find myself screaming from the sidelines just like the mothers I said I would never be like – probably worse. It’s so frustrating watching them not pay any attention. I know they could both be much better but they just don’t feel like it. Good thing Jordan’s in tap. Now that’ something she’s great at and loves it.

Declan’s First Day of Pre-K

September 12, 2009

Declan started almost a week after Jordan. he is going for a full day of Pre-K. He likes it, doesn’t understand why he has to go every day. Neither does Jordan really. He already made a few friends and is excited that he gets to watch Veggie Tales movies in school.
